Mesothelioma is a type of cancer that a man or a woman can develop when he or she inhales asbestos fibers.

Mesothelioma survival rates are extremely low: according to the American Cancer Society, most of the patients who are diagnosed with pleural mesothelioma when the disease is in the early stages die within two years of diagnosis, and the rates are even lower for those who are diagnosed when the disease has advanced.

These rates induce fear in the hearts of some mesothelioma patients. However, there are great Bible verses that can help one to deal with such a fear. In fact, the words “Fear not” appear 360 times in the Bible—one for each day! And there are other wonderful Bible verses that can help one to overcome his or her fear of dying early because of mesothelioma.

Here are some of those verses, if you are one of the patients who gets scared whenever he hears or sees those scary rates.

1.     Have Faith In Jehovah

“And Moses said unto the people, ‘Fear ye not, stand still, and see the salvation of the LORD, which He will shew to you today.” (Exodus 14:13). (King James Version).

Just relax, give your cares to the LORD, believe in Him, expect God to prevent you from dying early, and enjoy each day as a gift: play with your spouse, enjoy your passions, offer hope to other mesothelioma patients, enjoy your favorite foods and forget about those rates because God promises to save you.

2.     God Will Fight For You

“Then I said to you, ‘Do not be in dread or afraid of them. The LORD your God who goes before you will Himself fight for you, just as He did for you in Egypt before your eyes.” (Deuteronomy 1:29).

In the past, you heard bad news right? Probably, when you were a child there were a lot of armed robberies in your neighborhood and that put fear in you. Or you were informed that the kids from your neighborhood never went to college and that scared you that you would never make it to college. And today, you may fear that nuclear war can break out between the United States and North Korea or Russia at any time. However, God has saved you from experiencing any of these bad situations, or from suffering what you feared, right?

Then, believe that just as He fought for you in the past and delivered you from your fears, He will extend His mercies and grace to you today too and save you from becoming one of the mesothelioma patients who die only a few months after being diagnosed with this disease.

Just say to Him, “LORD, You saved me from suffering what I feared in the past. You have not changed and I know You will deliver me again. Glory be to holy Name.”

3.     Practice Constant Awareness Of The  LORD’s Presence

“I keep the LORD always before me; because He is at my right hand, I shall not be moved.” (Psalm 16:8).

The LORD inspires calm and quiet wherever He goes. For example, when the storm arose whilst the disciples were rowing their boat from Nazareth to Gennesaret (Matthew 14 v 22—33), and the disciples got scared,  Jesus’ presence caused the disciples to lose their fear.

When you go about your duties fully aware that the LORD is there with you as you cook, as you listen to news about mesothelioma research, as you read about mesothelioma patients who have lost their life within the course of the year, as you listen to people talking about how low those rates are, it will remind you that once the LORD is in control, once the LORD is with you and He can keep you from suffering the fate of mesothelioma patients who die only a few years after diagnosis, then you are safe. Consequently, that information about the low mesothelioma rates will not induce fear in your heart.

4.     God Will Help You So Do Not Fear

“fear not, for I am with you, be not dismayed, for I am your God; I will strengthen you, I will help you, I will uphold you with my victorious right hand.” (Isaiah 41:10).

In this verse, God commands you to fear not. It is a command and you must obey the LORD. Fear not! God says that He is with you and so do not fear the fact that very few people are able to live with mesothelioma for many years.

God says that do not let the figures and statistics you are seeing, and which you are hearing, cause you to miss one beat of your heart. He is your God. He is your God who protected the Israelites from suffering the diseases that Israel’s neighboring nations suffered from. He is your God who prevented the Egyptians from destroying the Israelites when the Israelites left Egypt. He is your God who caused water to come out of the rock when the Israelites were thirsty and cried out to Him to give them water. He is your God who gave Methuselah life until he was over 900 year old.

Get the point? Your God is able to prevent you from dying early so trust in Him and don’t fear. He promises to help you and you can be sure He will do just that. So, is there any reason to be scared of those rates? No!

5.     Take Refuge In God

“This God—His way is perfect; the promise of the LORD proves true; He is a shield for all those who take refuge in Him.” (2 Samuel 22:31).

Take refuge in the LORD and He will give you long life just as He granted Hezekiah more years to live after Hezekiah fell sick and pleaded with Him to add more years to his life. Run to Him and ask Him to keep you alive till you see your great grand-children. Make supplication to Him and ask Him to help you to enjoy the beauties of the world He created for many more years to come. Plead with Him to prevent the mesothelioma from spreading to other organs in your body. Plead with Him to strengthen your immune system so that your body can fight the disease. The LORD will honor your prayer and grant you your heart’s desire so that you will feel happy and glorify Him.
